WordPress 2.5

I reckon this is the most controversial WordPress release to date. With a complete overhaul of the Admin CP, especially the write page. Tbh, I kinda like it, although the Editor seems a little slow. The new logo is rather nice too. Butfor those who aren’t so keen, check out Fluency Admin by DeanJRobson. It’s a bit like WP-Tiger but for WP 2.5.

Tony Scott has suggested the idea of having a WordCamp in the UK. There’s been a lot of debate on his blog about suggesting locations, with many opting for London, but just as many (including me) opting for somewhere a bit more up north! When we do have a WordCamp though, I certainly will be attending!

I’ve eventually got round to setting up Twitter. I’ll add a link in the sidebar to my Twitter page. Got a bit peeved though when I found out that T-Mobile have blocked Twitter in the UK. Not much of a problem though, as I’m changing my phone and provider next month. T-Mobile have done nothing good for me, and I’m switching to O2. They’ve got an offer for an LG Viewty free on a £30 a month contract. IMO, the Viewty is better than the iPhone.

That seems to be quite a long blog post. Maybe it’s because of the smaller editor text size in 2.5? That’s all for now!

New server!

After getting a quite stern email saying that DanServ (my old host) had been taken over by Othello Technologies (some webhosting company), I decided to look elsewhere for hosting. The old server appeared to be running on alcohol over the past few weeks, and I was getting quite fed up (as were my clients!).

So. The solution. Find a new host. I soon came across one which seemed fast, had some good reviews, and had reasonably good prices. They’re called AceGX. They moved all my files over (and accounts/dbs/etc), and have provided a great service.

Sorry for any downtime over the last 24hrs whilst the move was taking place, but (fingers crossed!) this move is for the better and AceGX will be my webhost for years to come!

Burnout Paradise DLC!

Wow. I never expected it. I never even realised till i was flicking through my PSN friends list and saw the words “BP Dust Storm coming” in the bubble above MRCMidnightRider’s name. I brought up Google, and soon found the best thing to hit my PS3 since Burnout Paradise was released – Downloadable Content!

If you don’t believe me (and i don’t blame you really), click here to see Criterion’s blog post on it. Then head on over to this forum post to see some speculation on what the new island might be.

Well, as far as I can gather, there’s some new cars – notably the Dust Storm dune buggy – and a new island. The new island could be an airport, I don’t know if you’ve heard Atomika on Crash FM mentioning the ‘sunken’ airport or not. Or it could be something else.

They’ve even teased us with two (yes, two) videos of the new content – here and here.

There’s even word on the street of more islands to come out. I can’t wait! Feel free to leave comments if you’re as fanatical about Burnout as I am :D
