Call of Duty 4 – New Maps!

The new maps for Call of Duty 4 have been released! I downloaded these on Thursday evening when they were released, but I’ve been playing them non-stop and so have only got round to blogging about it now. There are four new maps – Broadcast, Creek, Chinatown, and Killhouse. I’ve only played three so far, as Killhouse hasn’t come up in the rotation yet for me. Let’s have a brief look through them…

Broadcast

CoD4 - Broadcast

This is a great map, mainly indoor, but has a huge parking lot and a few outdoor buildings. There’s a big newsroom in the centre, with intense gunfights across the computers. There’s corridors around the sides of the building and a large open area on the outside with multiple levels. There’s also a television studio and toilets to explore.

Creek

CoD4 - Creek

Creek is a big outdoor map, probably my favourite. There are many hills, a few buildings and a cave too. You’re lucky if you manage to walk around there without being snipered, people hide in barns, on roofs and up in the hills. Of course, there is also the ravine, quite fun to walk through as people can’t really see down there! As far as the scenery goes, there is a big waterfall around the middle of the map, although the water effects aren’t so good!

Chinatown

CoD4 - Chinatown

This is a packed town with many buildings. Definately a map for claymores! It’s fairly big, and there are some buildings with three levels. It’s quite fun to have building-to-building fights across the streets through windows, and then to drop frags onto unsuspecting wanderers below! Very Chinese themed, although many shop names are in English. There are a few mounted guns at windows. Playing Headquaters here is very fun!

Killhouse

CoD4 - Killhouse

Not played Killhouse yet, but by the looks of it, it’s a small map which uses a lot of the rooms from the training level. Looks a fast action-packed level to play, probably the only level based in the UK too.

I recommend getting these map packs! They’re £6.99 on the UK PlayStation Store, that’s $10 on the US i think. Let me know what you think about them too! Feel free to leave a comment.

My New Setup!

My New Setup!

My Games Supply

So this is my new setup. I’ve moved my PC out of the small office and now I’ve got all my games, consoles and computers in one place. I’ve also gained two double-cupboards and a tall bookcase (not visible in the pics).

Well, it’s one step towards getting the new bedroom…

WordCamp UK Blog

Thanks to Mark Steadman for setting up the WordCamp UK Blog. It has a useful feature of WordPress where any Technorati posts tagged with “wordcampuk” will show up in the ‘Buzz’ section.

So if you’re blogging about WordCamp, or if you’re putting up any type of social media in fact, stick the tag “wordcampuk” on it so we can find it and group them all together!

UPDATE: Thanks to Mark (again!) for pointing out my late-night typo! It’s actually “wordcampuk”. We haven’t got the Technorati feature up (yet), but trackback to a blog post and Mark will try and get you on the Buzz section.

WordCamp Logo

WordCamp UK 2008 Badge

Since WordPress is crashing Firefox when I try to upload an image, I’ve decided to upload them at Flickr instead. So I’ll stick some photos on my photostream there.

The image above is the cool new logo for WordCamp UK made by Stef Lewandowski, a fellow WordPress blogger who I hope to see at WordCamp!

The attendees list hasn’t closed (yet!), but I still suggest you sign up over there soon so you can guarantee yourself a place as it’s gonna be popular being the first UK one.

I’ll be sure to keep my twitter updates flowing throughout the weekend! Let me know if you’re coming – dropping me a comment! And be sure to link to the websites from your own blog too, the more publicity the better!

UPDATE: We’ve now got a new badge/logo for WordCamp UK because (according to Matt) the old one had a shrunken version of the W…

WordCamp UK – Sign Up Now!

Time is running out if you wanna go to WordCamp UK! There’s only until 12pm Friday (GMT+1) to sign up on the WordCamp Wiki if you’re interested. If all goes to plan, it should take place somewhere in Birmingham on the 19th and 20th of July 2008. And with any luck, Matt may show up (unconfirmed, just a hope).

Many thanks to the fantastic Tony Scott for proposing this idea! If you’re interested, post your name on this wiki page and I’ll see you there! For more info, see the WordCamp UK website.

You can also subscribe to the WordCamp UK Mailing List. For the many WordPress bloggers out there in the UK, it’d be a great help to WordCamp if you could trackback/blog our event soon so we can get as much publicity out there as possible!

I’ll post some more info as it’s decided!

UPDATE: Well, it appears that the attendees list has not closed (yet), so while it’s still open head over there and put your name down!

New CoD4 Maps

As if Infinity Ward hadn’t already made a big fuss over them already (especially on the 360), we’re now going to end up rarely playing them, as according to many users, they hardly ever show up in the rotation.

Fourzerotwo is clearly an Xbox Fanboy, and he gives us no help in this recent blog post for the PS3.

LG Viewty

In follow-up to my previous post on Fonehouse, I now have an LG Viewty :) . We sorted everything out with them and my Dad’s shrewd business tactics have got me the phone and the right contract.

Also, since it was my birthday on Saturday, it serves as a little birthday On present, albeit a night before, but oh well. :)

On Saturday, I was 14. I took my friends out to Laser Quest at the Trafford Centre and we had a great time. Spent a lot of money shopping! Bought Rainbow Six: Vegas and Ghost Recon 2: Advanced Warfighter. They’re all quite good games. Also saw Mario Kart Wii being played in a Nintendo kiosk. Would have taken some pictures of it but they wouldn’t let us.

Anyway, that’s all from me now!

Fonehouse.co.uk

Well, I recently posted about my phone and how it’s coming up for renewal shortly. Well, we recieved a letter through the mail the other day from a company called Fonehouse.co.uk. They told us that they were working on behalf of T-Mobile to handle upgrades for customers.

So, after recieving a text with this information on my phone aswell, we decided to give them a call. Surely they would be working with T-Mobile if they have my full address and telephone numbers. So we spoke to a woman on the other end, simply enquiring about what their offers were. We didn’t order anything, we informed them that we would consider their offers and possibly ring back another day. This was on Tuesday.

Now today (Thursday), I get home from school to find an LG Viewty on our dining room table (the usual place for our mail in an afternoon!). Enclosed is an invoice from Fonehouse.co.uk billing us £60 for the LG Viewty, and an undisclosed price for a T-Mobile Flext package. So we’ve spent a good part of an hour on and off the phone tonight trying to work out why they’ve sent us (and billed us) for a phone which we didn’t agree to order. After a few minutes on the phone to their customer support team, we’ve found out they’ve put us on a package almost £20 more expensive than the one we were previously on. We also have 7 days to return the phone after getting a cancellation request number from their support team too.

So we’ve been decieved into buying from a company who have no affiliation with T-Mobile whatsoever, and a quick Google shows that this isn’t an isolated case. Here is another example of someone who has been forced into a contract without their consent.

Hope I can sort this out!
