Battlefield: Bad Company

Gaming

This game is absolutely amazing. I’ve not put another disc in my Xbox 360 since I bought it on Friday. It’s very fun to play, and it’s got a great story too.

You play as Preston Marlowe, a soldier in the US Army. He’s put in Bad Company, the unit of the army where all the idiots are put, “so they can put all their bad eggs in one basket”. They’re used when the privates and corporals are too expensive to waste. As you can probably expect, the result is very funny.

The story follows the unit as they discover Mercenaries and their greed for gold ensues. Bad Company ends up invading a neutral country and causing major chaos as they attempt to steal the Mercenaries’ gold. Great gameplay, not extremely hard but very fun to play.

And then there’s the online multiplayer. This takes the game to a completely new level. Almost (90%) fully-destructable environments can turn strategies on their head, nothing says chaos like being in a building one second, then being fully exposed to the enemies the next after someone blows the whole wall apart in front of you! The main game mode is Gold Rush, where you are either an Attacker or a Defender. The attackers need to blow up the metal cases where the gold is stored to steal it, and the defenders have to stop them. The attackers have limited respawns, and the defenders have unlimited. Think of it as CoD4‘’s Search And Destroy mode, but on a bigger scale and more destructive!

This game is fantastic, and one of the best I’ve ever played. The destruction factor adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay, and underneath it all is an amazing game engine. It’s called Frostbite and was developed by DICE. Bad Company is the first game that utilises it.

If you’re looking to get an awesome game this summer, this is the one to buy! You’ll have hours of fun playing the single player and then double the fun playing online. I thought it was impossible, but this game beats Call of Duty in all areas!

Let me know what you think!

Meh.. I hated it - its basically a watered down version of battlefield 2 with destruction, red faction II on PS2 was a lot better in my opinion - but im basing all this from a weeks rent

Sorry for a double post but I enjoyed it for 2 days, but got fed up of one game mode and quite fast deaths (despite I was level 6 with a life-2 for assault)
The story mode is like CoD4, not bad, but pretty crap - online is clearly the main feature
CoD4 was better for me in terms of addiction but now im bored of it im left to play MGS4 which is 10x more awesome :)

Feel free to double post Matt, more comments for my blog ;) I’ve not played MGS4, but the MGO beta was annoying when that came out.

    Nice :)

Yeah to be honest MGO isnt as fun as battlefield, but MGS4 story is just soo… epic… It is a perfect storyline fit for a multi-BAFTA winning film
I have played many vehicle based games and for some reason battlfield bad company just didnt “do it” for me, for example I hate the helicopters and artillery…

Yet again another double post :-

Just wanted to ask, what do you like about battlefield: BC?
I loved the mines for the demolition class and using the C4 on the bridge so many noobs cross on the map Oasis, my main critism with the game is fast deaths and little replay value (after you played each map about 15 times)
Also did you do the Find all Five challenge? I managed to get all of them except for the sniper (I didnt preorder) I may purchase the game once the update with conquest comes, im currently excited for update 2.40 on PSN tommorow with the trophies :)

I think the story is quite funny, and the destruction online is epic. I’ve played multiplayer a hell of a lot and it never gets old for me, there’s so many different possibilities for each map - you might flank across the river on one game, but on the next you might have blown up a house attic where a sniper is hiding and so you have to fight your way through instead. I haven’t done the Find all Five challenge, you can see where EA have had their influences :) I didn’t play the demo that much so I can’t get the Uzi either.

I watched the videos on the playstation.blog and i’m disappointed that it took Sony so long to put an entire XMB in when they could have released the messaging system at least a bit earlier and added onto it later. The trophies look ok though, but I don’t fancy having to complete a game again just to unlock the trophies :(

    Triple Post! Hehe
During the final days of my rent (I was mainly playing MGS4 during the time) I particuly enjoyed knifing and acquired a huge amount of dog tags, I even attempted to knife my own team with some negative effects involving them coming back in a tank… XD

I like the idea of the trophies and I read on IGN (or Eurogamer) that they prefer the trophies over achievements and the leveling up system as long as sony uses it properly, also ingame messaging was already in many games, especially 1st party - eg: Pain, Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, MGS4… Ive also read that it will scan your save files and give you trophies appropriately with more coming with later game updates (eg burnout trophies come shortly after cagney)but Sony will later stop save sharing so basically: grab as many saves as possible for a head start on trophies! :D

Back on topic am I the only one who realised this:

    badcompany.ea.com/

Notice it? EA = Bad Company hehe :D

I hate the europe map with the greenery and the barns (forgot the name) the map is basically a frag fest then ends up with you battling on almost flat ground after about 10 mins of destruction
