New Xbox Experience

Asides

Downloaded this last night, made my avatar and enjoyed having a party chat with some friends. Sure, it might take some getting used to, but it’s an improvement none-the-less.

Of course being the slightly biased person I am I downloaded the nXe and was quite dissapointed, yeah my avatar was cool but his face gave the impression that there was something wrong with them and I disliked the lack of engagement with the avatars (eg miis = playable with wii sport, home avatars = virtual community, xbox avatars = a few abox live games which are awful??)

The new multi chat feature is admittedly useful but thinking about it I see no need for it and I personally would rarely use it, just like the playstation version with 1 to 1 private talk it is destined to be rarely used and just simply an overhyped feature, but then again only time will tell.

Also despite my standard dislike of xbox in general (ever since it broke down on me… twice), I preferred the blades system, the new dashboard is too “Apple” like. It is simply stealing the smooth interface style from apple products and horrendously jumbling it up and calling it their new dashboard.

Its a shame that the one redeeming feature of the nXe, the netflix streaming, is unavailable in the UK (as such with the ps3 version), regardless M$ got themselves in quite a mess with sony refusing to let their licensed films on the xbox but that is another story to be told.

In conclusion I thought the nXe was actually going to persuade me to actually buy games for the 360 again (I bought gears 2 and fable 2 to try and let the 360 redeem itself too but was sadly disappointed with both) but the nXe just ended up in my eyes as a mess of stolen ideas from both Nintendo and apple with many of the features being quite overhyped. Not what I expected.

I was expecting you to drop by… ;-) I personally find it’s a big improvement on the old Dashboard. Maybe I’ll play with you on PS3 sometime. Do you recommend CoD5?

^Indeed I do recommend CoD5, but sadly not for the multiplayer (IMO it is just the same as CoD4 but the maps are an improvement), I just like doing the zombie survival mode hehe ^^

Maybe if the new dashboard got some cooler themes it would be better but I think its ugly and harder to use at the moment, much preferred the blades
