Fonehouse.co.uk
Well, I recently posted about my phone and how it’s coming up for renewal shortly. Well, we recieved a letter through the mail the other day from a company called Fonehouse.co.uk. They told us that they were working on behalf of T-Mobile to handle upgrades for customers.
So, after recieving a text with this information on my phone aswell, we decided to give them a call. Surely they would be working with T-Mobile if they have my full address and telephone numbers. So we spoke to a woman on the other end, simply enquiring about what their offers were. We didn’t order anything, we informed them that we would consider their offers and possibly ring back another day. This was on Tuesday.
Now today (Thursday), I get home from school to find an LG Viewty on our dining room table (the usual place for our mail in an afternoon!). Enclosed is an invoice from Fonehouse.co.uk billing us £60 for the LG Viewty, and an undisclosed price for a T-Mobile Flext package. So we’ve spent a good part of an hour on and off the phone tonight trying to work out why they’ve sent us (and billed us) for a phone which we didn’t agree to order. After a few minutes on the phone to their customer support team, we’ve found out they’ve put us on a package almost £20 more expensive than the one we were previously on. We also have 7 days to return the phone after getting a cancellation request number from their support team too.
So we’ve been decieved into buying from a company who have no affiliation with T-Mobile whatsoever, and a quick Google shows that this isn’t an isolated case. Here is another example of someone who has been forced into a contract without their consent.
Hope I can sort this out!

Hi Jordan
In my capacity as Communications manager for fonehouse, I am indeed sorry to hear of this tale. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the actions of our call centre in regards to this matter. It is not our intent/practice to sign people up to contracts they did not request, nor do we undertake to send out good that have not been asked for. I will be investigating this matter more fully. Please could you email me with the date of this mishap and any other info you may deem useful to me in my investigation. With regards to the link to the 3G forum, the fonehouse address supplied in some of the entries does not match our own - it may be another company. We are a bone fide t-mobile specialist and we do offer contracts to customers on t-mobile’s behalf. we have been trading for 15 years and as such place a high value on correct business practice, we would never knowingly attempt to fool a customer. call centre operations can be tricky to monitor as the turn over of staff is high, whilst every care is taken to ensure a ‘best practice’ sometimes operators act on their own and outside of company policy. Once again please accept our apology for this mistake.
with regards
