Geography Trip to Grasmere

The Other Side of the Lake

The past Thursday and Friday have been somewhat exhausting. I was on a Geography field trip to Grasmere, and also to White Scar Caves. I took 200 pictures, and walked about 7 miles. I also bought bags full of Grasmere gingerbead (you can’t blame me, it’s awesome!). I’ve uploaded a few pictures to my Flickr photostream and there are more to come.

The first day started when we went up to the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole. We enjoyed an hour-long talk from a curiously flamboyant guide, who told us about who owns the land in the Lake District (apparently they’re farmers, not pirates!?!!) and about what the Lake District Authority are obliged to do. Then we continued on to White Moss Common, where we plotted a map of the nearby amenities and then went on a long 4-mile walk around Grasmere Lake. I was less than impressed. Some of us managed to jack out of the last bit, and hung around in Grasmere to buy gingerbread!

We then went to the youth hostel. It was set in nice spacious grounds and we had the annex all to ourselves. However, I found the beds quite uncomfy and the lights quite temperamental (the covers should not come off so easily!!). I eventually got to sleep after 2am.

In the morning, we made an early start to get to White Scar Caves. Much to our dissapointment (well, all of us except Sam), the heavy rain made the caves unvisitable for the sake of flash floods. Not to let a little weather stop us from traversing a cave, we made a run for it and smashed through the gates and took our own tour, the tour guides took us a small way in so we could see a bit, considering we’d come all the way from Preston. Afterwards, we headed over to the Ingleton Waterfalls Walk, where we got a lot of photos and a lot of water! I got particularly stunning pictures of Thornton Force too.

All of this has left me tired and with an awful cold. My idea of fun isn’t really walking around lakes…

We’ll Meet Again…

My school’s summer concert is tomorrow night. It’s themed around the songs sang in the War. I’m playing in the band so we’ll be backing up the choir for Little Brown Jug and then making our Great Escape. (=

Visit to All Saints Church

All Saints Church

I went here with school yesterday (Monday). The purpose of the trip was to get some sketches and pictures of All Saints Church (in Hesketh Bank), for the Art project we are currently working on - Architecture. And I sure did get some pictures - about 80 of them! I’ve uploaded about 60 to Flickr, so see my photo set for the full lot.

Let me know what you think by adding a comment.

W00t, ECDL!

I’ve just finished my Module 4 for ECDL. Thought I’d make a blog post about it. :)

I’ve made quite a few short blog posts recently. Might update later with a few pics from when I went to see the Riverdance at Blackpool over the weekend. That’s the big ship which is sinking on Blackpool’s beach.

Ulead VideoStudio……

A no-go for video enthusiasts anywhere!!!!! I’ve spent the last day making a video for my Geography homework and the quality is terrible. Even when I import HD-quality video into it! The microphone quality is rubbish and the resolutions are terrible.

Any suggestions for better video editing software? Drop me a comment!

Umph.

Umph. I’m here at school now I’ve got terrible pains in my stomach - too much food from earlier I think - and so I’ve decided to give PE a miss. So did the two annoying Y7 girls who are loitering about in the classroom too. :D Now I’m sure that the one to my left destroyed my office last night and the one to my right almost lives off the food and drink my sister gives her. The good news is that I’m off all week next week as it’s half-term holidays, and so I might (probably will) get round to coding a new tool that will help you get even more out of your site.

Now SiteMail’s had a great overwhelming response. Loads of you have signed up already! Keep it up and we’ll be taking the net by storm in no time! Cya later.

School’s Closed

Dad got a phone call this morning from my headteacher. The builders burst through a sewage pipe and so all the toilets at school are out of action :D. Subsequently, that means the school’s shut for today. Yes!
